Today I received some audience feedback on the footage on my trailer so far. The response was that my trailer was mostly in profficent from all who watched it but gave different marks, mostly around 27/28 marks.
The comments about my trailer was also diverse as different people picked up on different elements such as editing, narration, lighting, MES, captions etc.
The main points I picked up on was that it is too long being 3 minutes and 19 seconds, which may seem like a short film and may give the audience too much of a story line i.e they know the basic plot and structure of the story. This was suggested by adding more captions to set the scene that aren't too lengthy as there not enough. Another key point was that the music is too loud or not enough music/sound is added as it can be hard to hear the characters at times but at the same time does not build tension or pace aided by music so the music can be turned down or faded so still be able to hear but not as loudly.
Some of the feedback was positive as the audience seemed to like the different shots because they are varied such as in the woods and inside the house which also complimented the different lighting such as light and dark. the overall story line of the film is easily explained as well which was positive as the audience can understand the plot/synopsis and aren't confused as much as what the trailer is advertising or promoting. The final couple of shots were praised by the audience as the trailer does build and can be identified as a scary and intimidating scene to be in, as the camera is in the point of view of the actor so the audience can connect and sympathize with the characters more.
Here are some examples of feedback more clearly and more detailed:
